Namibia Hotels and Resorts - Wedged between the Kalahari and the chilly South Atlantic, Namibia has deserts, seascapes, bushwalking and boundlessness. Blessed with rich natural resources, a solid modern infrastructure and diverse traditional cultures, it is a beautiful country of vast potential. It's hard to imagine how the German colonizers of Namibia coped with the unlimited elbow room, vast deserts and annual quota of 300 days of sunshine, but that's exactly what now draws travellers to one of Africa's most intriguing destinations.

Just 20 kms from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon is Cañon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Tall weather-beaten granite boulders mark the location of the Lodge and form an integral part of the overall design.

Accommodation: The 30 chalets (with altogether 56 beds) of the Cañon Lodge were lovingly built from rock, wood and reed. Granite boulders which have been there for thousands of years serve as a wall or two, creating a sense of being sheltered in a primeval way. Every room, with bathroom en suite, has a private terrace overlooking the valley or the plain. Of course there is also a swimming pool for a refreshing dip. The terrace, shaded by peppertrees, offers magnificent views of the vast landscape right up to the striking Spiegelberg on the other side of the mighty Fish River Canyon. A sundowner at the mountain is an unforgettable experience.
